FAQ's
What is single source milk and why is it better?
A lot of milk sold in the market is collected from numerous different locations and is handled multiple times before it’s packed. Such milk can therefore be contaminated, adulterated, develop harmful bacteria due to unhygienic handling and can also contain milk from sick cows with traces of antibiotics. A single source dairy like Himalayan Creamery produces milk from its own cows. Sick cows if any, are kept in treatment shed, milked separately and that milk is not sold. More importantly, the process from milking to prowecessing to packing is done on our farm using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Milk is therefore pure, safe and reliable.
Does milk need to be boiled before drinking?
Milk is boiled to eliminate the risk of contamination and harmful bacteria, which may be present. Good quality pasteurized milk from a modern farm does not have to be boiled. It can be consumed directly and has a rich creamy taste. Consumers in most countries where milk quality is strictly controlled, drink milk without boiling.

We also grow organic vegetables and grains like wheat. We deliver the organic Wheat Atta directly to our customers. In the future, look out for updates.
How much Fat does cow milk have and why doesn’t it produce as much cream as buffalo milk?
Cows will produce milk with fat ranging from 3.5% to 4.0% on average and this means each glass of milk will give you about 10 grams of fat which is 15% of your daily fat requirement. Buffalo milk can have 6-7% fat and therefore results in more cream when boiled. Globally cow milk is usually preferred for drinking while Buffalo milk is used for making milk products like cream, cheeses, etc
Why should I drink milk?
A glass of milk provides 25-30% of your daily requirements for calcium and phosphorus besides providing essential proteins, vitamins and minerals that your body needs. It’s a perfect health drink you should drink with your family. Try Himalayan Creamery milk.
What is pasteurization?
It is the process where chilled milk is heated to a temperature of 72-80 Degree Celsius for 15 seconds after which it’s instantly chilled again. The natural quality and taste of milk is retained while any harmful bacteria are eliminated.
Milk delivered in cans is farm fresh and pouch milk is not fresh
Milk delivered in cans has a high risk of contamination and is not pasteurized &/or chilled, therefore the quality can deteriorate by the time it is delivered. It also needs to be boiled to reduce some of the bacteria risk. Milk has fat in it because of which the containers used for transport cannot be cleaned to required safety standards required for milk. It is true that pouch milk from large dairy processing companies can be several days old but our milk is pasteurized and packed within hours of milking and sent to your homes. Therefore milk that is pasteurized and packed on farm in glass bottles (which have been cleaned using machines) or food grade pouches, is the safest way to get good quality milk to customers without all the quality risk.
Milk from Himalayan Creamery is expensive
Good quality milk is expensive to produce because cows are fed a quality diet; they live in very comfortable conditions and are looked after by a trained team of nutritionists, veterinarians, breeders and milking supervisors; the milk is handled using the world’s leading technology and equipment. All this means costs but then it ensures that you and your loved ones are drinking pure, tasty, nutritious and safe milk. It’s a small investment in a safe and high quality food for your family.
Cow’s milk has a pungent taste
Taste of milk depends on what the cows eat; the green fodder, silage and grains we feed our cows results in great tasting milk. Children love the taste. Our customers tell us about this all the time, try it and decide for yourself.
Is Himalayan Creamery Milk Organic?
Organic is a very loosely used term for milk. There is no certified organic farm in our region because for milk to be organic, the cows need to be fed organic green fodder, silage, soybean meal, cottonseed, mustard, wheat bran, dry fodder and other ingredients. We all know most of these items are not produced organically in India except in very small quantities for human consumption. Therefore milk cannot be organic like some producers will claim. Ask them about what they feed their cows and where do they get these organic ingredients.
Does Himalayan Creamery sell only milk?
Our dairy product basket has Paneer, Khoya, Makkhan (White Butter), Ghee, and Chhaach. The Farm Fresh products basket contains Organic Wheat Atta, Organic Basmati Rice, Organic Mustard Oil, and seasonal vegetables as per availability. All the products are to be preordered 1-3 days in advance for home delivery.
What Breed of Cows does Himalayan Creamery have?
We milk Holsteins and Jerseys, which arrived in the country few decades ago and have been bred in India for many years. More than 95% of commercial dairy farms in India keep the same breed of cows.
