Himalayan Creamery was born in 2016 out of a simple idea – we wanted to set up a dairy farm producing pure and great tasting milk, which we could deliver directly to our customers.
Our farm sits on a 20-acre site just outside Nabha in Punjab. It is home to 500 beautiful Holstein Frisian and Jersey cows. There are 260 of them which we milk while the rest are young stock for the future.
We treat our cows with utmost compassion and respect. They live in a “loose housing system” that allows them to move about freely in open sheds and display their most natural behaviour.
Our cows are fed a high quality feed made up of corn silage, soybean meal, wheat bran, minerals, dry and green fodder. We make it ourselves in our feed centre and it is formulated with help from professional nutritionists. Some of the green fodder is grown organically on farm using manure from the cows. A natural diet ensures that the milk is free from growth hormones, pesticides and antibiotics.
Water is essential for cows and we make sure our cows have access to fresh clean water at all times. Quality feed, real-time health monitoring, and great living conditions keep our girls healthy, happy and stress free and they produce great tasting milk.
The cows are milked in a ‘Herringbone’ milking parlour 3 times daily. The milk from the parlour is instantly chilled, pasteurized and packed on the farm. Each batch of milk is tested on farm to make sure it is of the highest standard.
It is then stored in a cold room before being loaded on our own refrigerated trucks to be delivered fresh to you – Creamy, Wholesome and Nutritious.
Come visit our farm and you will see what we mean!
